"The Hermit" represents self-reflection and enlightenment, withdrawal from the rat-race and focus on self-care. Hermit Provisions will cater to the hermit in all of us.

Our first incarnation was Mystic Coffee Roaster, a micro-roastery born on the banks of the Mystic River in Medford, Mass. in 2010. Starting in 2024, in the shadow of Vermont's Mount Ascutney, we're evolving as Hermit Provisions, a purveyor of flavor and delight. We are still roasting the best coffee around, but also blending soothing teas and curating a collection of seeds to grow delicious herbs for your kitchen and beautiful native & pollinator-friendly plants for your garden. Our offerings will delight all of the senses!

Hermit Provisions is owned and operated by Sharon Hepburn.
Sharon Hepburn
Owner, Roaster, Blender, Curator
Sharon Hepburn began roasting coffee in 2008 as a hobbyist home roaster. Inspired by the delicious coffees she produced in her kitchen, she decided to open a cafe-roastery to showcase her freshly-roasted coffees. Mystic Coffee Roaster was born in 2010 in Medford, Mass. on the banks of the Mystic River, opening to rave reviews. As time went on, post COVID, Sharon decided to focus on coffee roasting and closed the cafe, and a search for a more appropriate production-oriented location ensued. Eventually a great location was found in Reading, Vermont. Sharon had gained a deep appreciation for tea while running the cafe, and she developed a passion for gardening, specifically gardening to support pollinators and wildlife. As she developed her business plan for the new location, she decided to blend her passions into one company that would offer products to delight all of the senses.
